In-Character Information
Name:
Hazel Hawthorn
Series: Original character
Appearance: She's about 4'9" with a slim build. Her hair is brown, straight and is long enough to almost reach her butt. Her eyes are a soft brown.
Canon-Point: A few months after she turns sixteen
History:Hazel is from a world called Tierra.
She grew up in a small house in the woods just outside a smallish city. During her early childhood she never strayed far from her parents, Laurel and Miles Hawthorn. Her mom was a powerful witch and her dad was just a normal guy with an office job. While the populace of many places on Tierra were starting to frown upon magic it didn't really effect her much early on. She was oblivious of this fact but, her mother actually shielded her from much of the prejudice people were starting to show.

For most of her life she never got farther from her parent than a school in the city. And aside from never being allowed to invite friends over or talk about what her mother did she never had any problems involving the growing distrust of magic.

That began to change when her mother started teaching Hazel magic shortly before she turned twelve. After she got the hang of her first spell(just holding a tiny flame between her hands) she told her friends. They thought it was the coolest thing ever and really wanted to see it.
Though she was reluctant(her mom told her not to use magic away from home unless she had to but, she just had to show her friends, right?) she eventually gave in and showed off the rather pathetic little spell. The slight commotion caused the teacher to come over.
There was freaking out and calling of parents. More freaking out by the parents and, unfortunately, forbidding their kids to talk to Hazel again. Hazel's mom thought it would be best for her to change schools.

Things went well enough for a while though Hazel was left uncomfortable with the idea of getting close enough to someone to want to tell them of her spells. She might have gotten over it if history class did not include several lessons about powerful magic users attempting to cause havoc of some kind and the fear expressed by some of her classmates at the stories.
Her studies left her little time or energy to want to spend time with her peers outside of school anyway. She became more introverted as time passed and she grew uncomfortable talking with people she didn't know.

By age sixteen Hazel was pretty much a loner at school. She let no one closer than a friendly acquaintance. Most of her time was spent at said school or with her mother learning magic. Her free time was mostly spent reading, playing video games (Several Final Fantasy games are among these but, it can be ignored if any FF character muns don't want their character fourth walled) or occasionally, cooking.

Currently, the closest she's been to an adventure is walking a mile home from the bus stop the dozen or so times her dad was too busy to drive her home from school.

Personality:Hazel has a generally kind, mild and shy personality. She has something of an inferiority complex and believes she will never live up to her mother's expectations. She's more of a follower than a leader and tends to go along with others' solutions to problems unless they obviously won't work.

She is easily embarrassed and tries to remain reserved in her interactions with others in order to avoid embarrassing situations. She dislikes attention and does not take public speaking well.
She often misses social cues and has a hard time telling if someone is just joking around or being serious unless it's really obvious. She can sometimes take friendly teasing seriously as a result.

If she becomes comfortable enough with someone to do some of her own gentle teasing she can sometimes suffer excessive guilt if they appear to have taken it seriously.

Growing up in a place where a big part of her( her magic ) wasn't particularly loved has made her somewhat withdrawn. And some horror stories about things people have attempted to do with magic have made her a bit afraid of her power.

Her mother's opinion means very much to her. The only reason she studies magic at all is because her mother loves it so much. Her mom's offhand comment about her looking cute with long hair is also probably the only reason she hasn't cut it short. She worries about the morality of some of the things her mother teaches her but, will not refuse to learn.

She likes to think she's level headed and she generally is most of the time. But, she tends to be very jumpy when she is alone. On more than one occasion this has caused her to almost set aflame something harmless that surprised her. Usually just some small fuzzy animal rustling in the bushes. She feels terrible every time it happens and can suffer guilt for weeks after. That she has a soft spot for cute critters can make it a little worse.
Unfortunately she can't completely break that habit because of a couple times that it wasn't something harmless in the bushes.

She can be very timid when dealing with strangers unless they happen to be very obviously the harmless and nice type. She's pretty good about answering questions that don't involve her personally but, is awkward when it comes to small talk. In fact she'd much rather sit home and read than go out. Her magic is a subject she will not talk about unless she is sure someone has no problems with it or it somehow becomes important for them to know.

She can be seen as a bit of a prude but, really she's just mostly innocent when it comes to sex and innuendo. Flirting goes completely over her head unless it is really blatant.

Even though she's not really comfortable with people looking at her that way she' s embarrassed that she's not as developed as she should be at her age. So she tends to wear a sweatshirt that is too big in a lame attempt to hide it.

She has a small stubborn streak that usually shows only when she is concerned for a loved one's well being. Which isn't that often. She is not used to having someone she cares about actually need her.

Hazel hasn't really thought about going after something that will make her happy. she has been content to work on skills that would make other people happy.

She hasn't realized yet that she is more just existing than really living.

Powers: She is a witch in training with some experience in several spells
-Elemental - from strongest to weakest though none are particularly powerful- ice, fire, lightning, water, wind and earth.
While ice is easiest for her, she gets terrible chills when she uses it.

-Healing - If she's full on energy she can probably heal a nasty stab wound or a broken arm without passing out. She might manage more if she's really determined but, she'd pass out after. She can also reduce but, not completely remove some toxins.

-Shape-shifting - It takes some effort to turn herself into a squirrel and she still messes up half the time.

-A very weak but, slowly developing ability to sense magic or other supernatural phenomenon like ghosts, monsters and curses.

-She is pretty much always working on getting better with her spells and occasionally studying new ones. She does it half-heartedly so, her progress is not particularly fast. If she can regain any power at all while in Unova her progress would be extremely slow.

With her powers weakened she won't be able to do much at all with any element besides ice and fire and her healing will be about half power. Considering she only had a shaky grasp of it with full power she won't be able to shape-shift at all here.

[Hazel is looking uncertainly into the camera.]
...Hello?

So... I'm new here. I've always believed alternate universes existed so, I'm not really too freaked out about that I guess.

I've just... never been very far from home before. I'm not sure I'm cut out for this pokemon training thing I've been told about. Not entirely sure I want to be cut out for it.

Not much choice though, is there?
Third-Person Sample:
Hazel flopped forlornly under a tree. The idea of alternate universes wasn't new to her but, being sucked into one really ruined her day. Panic was quite draining once the adrenalin wore off.

Just an hour ago she had stared blankly at the old man while he tried to explain what was going on. This world wasn't too strange she supposed. There were numerous stories at home of places where people tamed monsters for various things. She was uncertain about being responsible for one of her own though. She'd never even been completely responsible for herself yet. Her mother was always close enough to make sure nothing could happen to her.

She took out the pokeball she'd been given and just sort of stared at it for a few minutes.

"I'm not sure I'm ready to deal with whatever you are." Hazel had no clue whether it could even hear her while still inside so, she felt a little silly talking to it. She curled up on her side and set the pokeball down next to her. "We'll get to know each other later. I'm just so tired right now," she mumbled sleepily. Yeah, after a little nap maybe she'd be ready to deal with things. Later.

Hazel is monologuingtalking to someone (I have no idea who or why) about her mother and magic.

"I can't help feeling like I'm a disappointment. Don't get me wrong. My mother cares about me (she's actually overprotective) but, I never showed the amount of interest in magic as she would have liked. It's sort of her passion.

I never really liked studying it. It's tiring, can cause lots of damage to the surroundings and often painful to the caster if even a small mistake is made. I did it anyway, for her because it meant so much to her. But, I never put my heart into it.

But now I need it. Since I've been here I've advanced more than I did in twice the amount of time back home. Proper motivation... I suppose 'because my mom wants me to' doesn't really count.

If she knew... she might be proud."

Your result for The Which Chemical Element Am I Test...

He... Helium.

You scored 29 Mass, 18 Electronegativity, 39 Metal, and 80 Radioactivity!

That's odd, our tests indicate that you did not just take this test. In fact, we're not even sure you exist. Oh, wait, no, somebody just found indirect evidence of you in the deep Earth and in the Sun. Okay, so you're real, but man, you need to get out more. Actually, you're pretty cool, always doing your own thing, but we kinda wish that you would interact with us a bit more. On a positive note, I think some research lab in Berkeley has managed to put you into a psuedo-stable relationship that, if you're kept very cold, you won't walk away from... or maybe that was Xenon. I forget.
